Question Questions on cleaning the windshield

W/ the other problems I've been ahndling lately w/ the scratched ground effects this problem is minor, yet very annoying. What do you guys use to clean your windshield/windows? I just can't get mine clean, tried windex,Clear Vue,Rain X,white vineager and water...nothing seems to do the job w/ out some smearing.Anybody got any tried and true method? I'll try anything short of blood letting!

Hitman,

Try Windex w/ a newspaper.

For some reason, newspaper works great on windows, and does not smear or leave "lint" like some paper towels.

You oughta try washing your L here in Arizona. You've got like 30 seconds to dry the windshield before calcified water spots take over.

Now the good news: I ordered some of the Zaino windshield cleaner Z-12 glass polish. It works, Windex does not, nothing else I have tried works, not even vinegar and water... The Zaino stuff has "mild abrasives" and is not supposed to scratch your windshield. So far this has been true for me.

Bad Dog is right. Newspaper is the key to cleaning glass.

Home Depot has zep brand foaming glass cleaner in aerosol cans. works well with newspaper as mentioned. i get a mirror finish on my tinted windows and back glass, windshield ding-guy gave me a can, it's what they use when they fix windshields.

You could also try 3M Foaming Glass cleaner in the aresol can. Sounds similar to the zep, and that's what the winshield guys here use.

try Stoner's Invisible Glass. I just started using this, and it leaves no streaks - best stuff i have tried for glass. i actually went on to their website, stonersolutions.com, and ordered the 50.00 sampler pack (12 items, i believe), which has alot of great stuff for interior and exterior care. all products are 1st rate

Brillo pad, a reasonable touch, and lotsa water.

That's what they used on the new ones when I worked as a glass cutter/grinder at the Chrysler Glass Plant years ago.

If you have scratches, wheel them out with jewelers' rouge (is a different issue -- the brillo doesn't scratch).

Ditto on the newspaper suggestion.

Right on 7700,
I worked at a body shop. They used steel wool.It makes the windshield look like brand new!! Really shiney too.Just had to make sure you blew it off the car real well.If the paint is still soft,it will rust immidiatly
