99/00 L DURABILITY
I JUST GOT MY 2000 L ABOUT A MONTH AGO AND HAVE HAD A LOT OF FUN BREAKING IT IN. I DRIVE ALL OF MY VEHICLES HARD AT TIMES BUT MAINTAIN THEM WELL AND GET A LOT OF MILES OUT OF THEM. MY OTHER CAR IS A 89' 911 WHICH HAS 105,000 MILES ON IT AND RUNS GREAT. I WAS JUST WONDERING WHO HAS THE MOST MILES ON THEIR 99/00 L? AND HAVE YOU BROKEN ANYTHING ON YOUR TRUCK YET?
I have 18K miles on my '99 L and 100K on my '89 911 Turbo. Both are white (the fastest color) and both are relatively trouble free.
Nothing has let me down on the L other than a defunct instrument cluster backlight that was covered under warranty.

WHAT04 SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT THE ENGINE REPLACEMENT. WHAT WENT WRONG? I HOPE THESE ENGINES LAST LONGER THAN THAT. I PLAN TO USE MY L AS A DAILY DRIVER, ABOUT 20,OOO MILES PER YEAR UNTIL IT FALLS APART. I AM HOPING TO GET 200,000 MILES OUT OF MY L.
REDHOTL,
I had some fairly serious vibrations while revving the engine in park or neutral. Got a zing going at about 1800 rpm and a really bad one at 3000 rpm that did not have an end point. Turns out that these vibration points also matched at speed vibrations. At 95+ mph the truck would start numbing one's bum. Also had an oil leak out of the right cylinder head.
Rather than try to diagnose, SVT decided (and I have to hand it to them) to replace. Just kind of crappy to get a new truck gutted like that. I can't believe it will be a one stop fix, if you know what I mean.
By the way, easy on the CAPS. (shhhh... it's considered yelling)
