While returning to our home last Sunday I spotted a black L on the local Ford dealers lot. We weren't going anywhere special so made a u-turn and headed back to take a look. It was black and appeared to have all the options. Salesman was on me as soon as I stepped out of the car. I asked him what they wanted for it and he said 33k. I couldn't help myself and broke out laughing. I asked him if he was serious and he said yes. I told him he was nuts. That you could buy a new 2k L for less than that. He then admitted they had quite a bit in the '99 but would be willing to deal. We talked a little more and he started telling me that new L's were bringing 8-10k over MSRP. I don't think this guy was smoking any 'wacky weed' but after this revelation I wasn't sure. He also said they had a new 2k that they would sell for MSRP. Didn't ask what color it was since all I really wanted to do was leave before it got so 'deep' that I couldn't. What a b.s. artist. At least I found out where not to go for my next car/truck.
