? About Exhaust

Hey guys i have a 03 lightning and its all stock, iam looking to put a exhaust system on it from the cats back. Ive been looking at flowmasters, 40 series standard, the super 40 series, and the 10 series single chamber. I dont want to loose any power, but i want a really deep agressive sound that roars when you step on it. Could any of you give me any first hand sugestions on wat to go with, thanks alot

one of the favorites on this board is the Bassani... it is a really smooth refined sound, i would equate to a silk shirt. The flows I would equate more to a flannel vest if that makes any sense lol. I've personally run magnaflows and loved them... Drove a truck with the bassani too and really liked that. I guess it all comes down to personal preference? check out lightningrodder dot com as they have an extensive multimedia base....

Are flows not good cause of performance, does the truck loose low end power or is it just a sound preference, and thats the reasion why you guys like the magnaflows and bassani?

Everyone I've heard said the Flows sound like a whistling jet and they want more of a deep V8 rumble so they ditch the flows and get something else.

I just had a Magnaflow system (stainless X pipe and 2 fourteen inch straight thru Magnaflow mufflers using my old MAC system's tailpipes and tips) custom intalled at a local exhaust shop, and it ROARS at wide open throttle. The sound is perfect.

you are not going to lose or gain any power going to a cat back system only.
Rob02 had his stock cat back for sometime and was making good power.

The bottleneck is the stock exhaust manifold (same as the n/a 5.4L F150) and the 4 catalytic convertors.

The only thing that a cat back does is change the tone of the exhaust, nothing more... well the tips me look nicer than stock also.

So until you do something about the catalytic convertors, do expect free flowing exhaust or an increase in power.

Personally, I heard a complete set of bassani exhaust and it was incredible sounding, shorty headers, bassani "midpipes" and bassani cat back.

I went with Bassani shorty headers, Custom mid pipes with hi flow cats and baffle, and MAC cat back. I like th tone, not to raspy, but just enough with a hint of metal ting to the sound.

i actually heard an american thunder flowmaster catback at the track and I think it sounded really good... But my personal favorite I've heard is the x pipe with dual magnaflow bullets.... NASTY (in a good way). JDM sells this as the Silver Bullet exhaust. You could probably save some money though just having a local shop bend you up something like it..
