How do you get the lower control arm bolt centered?
I've done a search for previous messages and found no answers to the following questions.
I'm going to get it welded but dont know how to get the bold head centered?
Do I have to have the weight off the wheel to do it or can it be pivoted with weight on?
I thought about the star washer but on mine the bolt head is at the rear, not the nut so I would have to remove the entire lower control arm bolt to do it and that seems a bit much.
Thanks all

The way that I'm going to do mine is remove the control arm and run a drill rod though the front holes and then though the back ones and put the washer on and weld it then. That way I know everything is centered correctly.
Since the spring rests on that lower perch...I would suggest that you put a jack under it, for both safety and ease. Usually when you do this, you can safetly unbolt it, add the washer and then put it back together. You will definately need a large centre-punch to line the hole up again and re-insert the bolt.

Hey guys,
If you jack the truck up and get almost all of the weight off the tire you can slide the bolt out with little effort. Jack on the frame so while you are raising it, it is taking weight off the spring. I did this and installed the star washers and reinstalled the bolt and had the whole process done within 15 minutes.Hope it helps.

Well, guess what?
I have the dreaded front end clunck. I called my dealer, gave him all the part numbers (thanks all!) and he is going to get back to me. I'm a little worried about the service rep, when I said I had a Lightning, he said "That's a F-150, right?" Great start.
I can see where the lower control arm bolt moved and I figured I would just weld the washer where the bolt was before it started to move. The truck has 5100 miles at 11 months.
Anyway, I'll keep you all posted!
