Exclamation Best way to launch with an automatic?

whats up everyone there is this like a 16 year old kid "probably his daddy's truck", but never the less he has called me out, this is my first actuall race in my L i've never raced with a automatic before i've always raced with standards could someone tell me the best way to launch off the line in a auto, and if you even think i could beat the kid.

He has a 69 short wide bed and is running a 454 crate engine he runs 9 flat in a 1/8th so he says i don't know for sure, also he has a intake and venom chip he also has flowmaster headers and exhaust. i'm completly stock except for my flowmaster exhaust.

So what do you think? I race today at 5pm so submit replys fast, Thanks.

Easy! Full Brakes, 1000 rpm. Jump off the brakes and go to WOT (Wide Open Throttle) Should not break loose. Good Luck!

I always would power brake till i felt the truck try to lunge, then let the truck move when the 3rd light lit, then give a slow mash or roll into it, be about 1/2 way through 1st gear before reaching the floor with the gas

Well i've been practicing and I was launching at about 1500RPM with full break and when the light goes green i go WOT and then its like its shifting to second as soon as i go WOT and it just bogs for a second then down shifts again and i'm off to the races but that split second of bog is going to make me loose.

I race my 6000# 4x4 Supercrew in the 1/8 mile and run in 9 sec. - you can easily beat him, just don't spin the tires. I launch at 1000 RPM in 2WD and don't spin; my best 60' was 1.97 sec.
