I'm running TR6's actually. They went in with the dyno tune on the 6 lb'er at 40k miles. I'd say the tune is pretty spot on It sounds/runs nearly identical to that day.

How many miles have you gone since the installation of the 6lber?

98k miles total
60k miles on the 6 lb.

At 90k miles total, I ran a high 8.2 on F1's
At 40k miles total when the 6 lb. and plugs went in, I ran a low 8.2 on F1's. 1.9 60' on both.

Same track, weather was about 10 degrees warmer on the 90k miles run. It hasn't lost much.

That is true, your truck seems to be running strong at 90K miles on the clock. I read your previous posts and did not see you mmentioned if you moved from a 4lber to a 6, or you went straight from stock to a 6lber. Let me know. Again thanks for your imput.

talk to Mike about a 6lb and go with his recommendation....

There is no hard data that a specific year model engine holds together better than another.......I was just stating facts abouts lightnings in my area. There was a thread a few days ago about 99-2000 possibly holding together better because of stronger rods but there to many factors to consider..... As 01-04 's reach 100K you will see posts about how strong they are.

back to topic...
A good tune supported by, proper octane, plugs, fuel filter, and it will last as long as the weakest link that already exists in your engine ......meaning, adding H.P. to your engine accelerates wear. Rob02 had abnormal wear at 13K that was surely accelerated by his mods and that wear would have led to a spun bearing and a broke rod.

BEST case scenario : - If your engine was built to a "good" standard from Ford and say if you left it stock it would last 150K .... then how long will it last modded ??..............

Question is do you "feel lucky" ?? Did you get a good build or was your truck built on a friday by someone thinking about his upcoming weekend did a part used to build your engine slip by quality control ?

I think lightning engines that let go with low miles had existing internal problems, especially when they claim the A/F was 11.8 when it let go.

if you do go with a 6lb - clean your intercooler and upgrade your tank and heat exchanger, port your supercharger.....also ask Mike about adding a 95 MAF .

let me know what Mike says because I want to add a 6 myself

I had this conversation last week with Troyer. He said to put long tubes on before I went up to a 6lb-- he was pretty adamant about that. This was specific to my truck with 4lb and port though, so I cannot be 100% sure if he would have said the same thing about a non-ported blower with 6lb.

I thought that I would have been the only one that wanted to make the switch I will try and get to Mike tomorrow and will let you know. By the way do you know if the same belt will work for the 6lber or will I have to change-that is if I decide to go with it?
