Post cabin air filter

Has anyone had any experience with the Ford accessory for cabin air filtration? It's in the accessory catalog and w/ the dust up here in Big Dig land it would help, but I don't want to dismantle the dash to install it. Thanks

Hey Franko:
That'sa gooda Italian name!
My L was 2 days old when I installed my kit. I have problems with allergies and I think it works great!

Ford part number F65Z-18D477-AA List $100--ouch! good guy price $58.60 This is a kit. If you go to the parts department and have them look up on the computer for just the filter cover endcap and filter and screws is all that you need. I think it might be cheaper this way than the full kit?

Installation is no problem. Use a sharp box knife. The cut lines are already there. If you are a short person, no problem. Tall guys, look for a backache after installing. Look up under the glove box area, you'll see 2 or 3 bolt cover. Remove it. You'll see the air duct and also the blower motor against the passenger side kick pannel, right by the computer. The full kit has a aluminum template deely that you don't need to use--because it already marked where to cut from the factory. Just remove that piece of plastic, sand smooth, then push the filter up, screw on new filter cover. That's it!

Question

Sounds great. How do you think it will work on cigar smoke?

Cool

Hey Jigawatt,
Thanks for the advice. The full kit up here is $67.00. I ordered yesterday.

It was a push even getting the parts dude to look up the whole kit let alone the individual parts. Almost had to make him an offer he couldn't refuse.

Thanks again

My Contour has a factory filter and One of the best things is it really cuts down on the dust that builds up on the vents and the rest of the interior.

Hey Blacklight,

0-60 = 4.9 From a couple of different mag sources. Factory quotes 5.4. Never had it to the track. It was incredible luck that I even got it at all, most dealers laughed at me when I asked. I could never replace it if it blew up, so it's a garage queen now (300mi since 1/11/00).
All I can tell you is when you mash the pedal (either one) you have to try to hold on.
