Im sitting here desperatly awaiting information on the 01 Lightning.SVT wont give any information,They say their will be a press release in oct.Makes you wonder what they are up to.They also said they will be definatly making them for 01.Other than the awesome clear headlights and 3 valve heads which are suppose to be on all f150s,I wonder how they can improve performance anymore?How can they make a lightning much better?If it is quicker as they claim isnt it going to be too fast?Some of you are laughing but the truth is low low 13s with just a chip is incredible for a truck.Imagine a 12 second factory truck ???This will be awesome.Ive already informed my dealer,He will be ordering mine first.He doesnt know anything about when the order bank will open.If they are releasing it in oct.I probally wont see mine till next summer.If they stop making white,I will be crushed.I would not go with yellow.I just couldnt look at it everyday.There are too many black and red so Ill probally go with silver.Im kinda glad (not really but kinda)glad I sold mine when I did.On a trade in (even though they are worth more)they are only giving $24k for them now in my area .If the new lightning is a whole new animal,Values are going to plummet to about 18k (99trade) when the new ones come out.Im sure even next year,You will still be able to get $25k for them with less than 36k miles on them.Now Im back to waiting again.This really blows.Im temepted to go buy another one today!!Although it would be foolish givin the reason I sold mine,I wont be happy till I get another one.

lightningquick I had a 99 and traded for my F250, got $26000 for trade which wasn't bad considering it was Sept and the market for that kinda of vehicle was gone because of winter coming.I have been thinking a lot about getting another and according to blueoval news there will be some changes in the next few years,and in 2003 a whole makeover for the f series including the lightning. so what do you do? do you wait do you lease and get a new one every 2 or 3 years,tough decisions.I've even though about keeping my F250 and getting a 1st generation lightning those were nice trucks to.

 

If I were guaranteed ford was going to male lightnings every year I wouldnt worry.The Truth is,I dont see them making them any more than 2001 or 2002.It took them 3 years after this body change to even come out with another one.I bet after these are gone,They never make them again.The next one is a keeper for sure.I just prey they make white

 

The original projected run is for six years. Have not heard of any changes.
