New roll cage almost complete. (pics)

Just got some pictures from the guy building my roll cage. All of the pictures are from the mock up. Everything was just tacked in place so it could be disassembled and sent to be powdercoated. Looking good so far. He's done a ton of Mustangs locally but this is the first truck he's ever done. I'll gladly be the guinnea pig for the price he quoted me. His welds are incredible.

I really like how he's doing the swing-out bars. It has a spring loaded cam inside the tubing that locks the bar so no pin pulling necessary to get in and out. They also can be taken completely out of the floorboard and a plug inserted when the bars are taken out. (Thanks John Armstrong for the ideas and pics.)

He just got the bar back from the powder coater today so it should be done some time this weekend. Can't wait to get her back.

So are the bars attached to the door and swing out with them?

Your cage looks pretty sweet, its going to be awsome. Ive always thought roll cages look so ridicolous on street cars it makes them awsome, if that makes sense. They gotta add +20hp from looks.

No, they're independant from the door but where they meet the halo bar is different than most I've seen. Most require a pin to lock them in place. These have a small cylinder that is spring loaded inside the bar so you just pull a latch and they come open, release the latch when they're closed to lock them. I'll post some more pics once I pick her up.

Jimmy, you planning to have that thing back by the trip to George Rays next Sunday? Or have you got more early season plans for it?

Looks great!

One question - On the pivot for the front bars, is that just a friction pivot or is there a bearing of some kind?

One suggestion - Upgrade you rear speakers below the welding is done. Looks like it would be a BEAR to replace a blown one later.

It's just a friction pivot.

I thought about replacing the speakers but I hardly ever listen to the radio anymore.

Unfortunately I have to work so I won't be able to make it. I would really like to check it out though. I've seen it on tv several times. Looks a little scary being that the whole track is the width of one lane at an NHRA track.
