Question Internet car buying services

Has anyone used these services to negotiate the purchase price on an L; or am I better off trying to make a deal on my own.

I and others like me are the ones that buying services call to sell to you. Most of the buying services make anywhere from $300 -$1,000 or more as a kick back from the dealership. This is money that came out of the buyers pocket.

Do as I did to purchase my L. Call a dealership and find out if they are an SVT store. Only an SVT dealership can sell a L.

If the dealership is, then ask for the fleet manager. Ask the fleet manager if they have or will have what you are looking for. If so, ask them how much they are selling then for.

I paid window sticker $31,375.00. Around my area that is about the best I could find.

I tried five Internet buying services, and none came up with any Lightnings at all. It was disappointing. It was just blind luck that I found my L on the lot when I did.

I also used Carpoint and a dealer in my area called me the next day (a Sunday). He told me on the phone they were charging list ($31,375) for "Internet customers." When I came in to buy it, I talked him into a free bedliner ($275 value). So I paid a little less than list, also pretty good in my area, where they are marking up L's $2-5K over.

Try carorder.com. Can't use them in TX, but I think GA is fine. I just looked there, and they had a price of $28,647.

I used invoicedealers.com to get my L.

I used AutoByTel and it was a good experience. Ended up dealing with the "Internet Manager" at a local SVT dealership. Good dealer and good salesman. Bought the L at MSRP when the other SVT stores in town were bumping up the price $2-$5,000 over list.
