motor question

to start off, i'm not a big "engine builder" person but, i just unwrapped the new JLP shortblock i purchased a while back and there is green sticky stuff everywhere (in some bores, underside on crank, rods, and etc.), is this something used when putting it together or what? i hadn't noticed it before on other built engines i've had.

Did you call/contact JLP to ask them?

It's probably a preservative to prevent corrosion but I would call JLP to be sure.
