Just wondering how you all know what number your lightning is. I have a 2000 and want to know what number it is. I have only had it a week it has 400 miles on it. I read the article in Hot Rod mag and I went down and tradeded in my 98 Mustang GT on it I cant believe the way this truck goes made my modified stang seem like an Escort. I would like to buy a chip for it which one should i go for???

 

You can contact SVT at 800-367-3788. Give them the VIN number and they will give you the build date and build number.

SVT willnot have the build number until ALL of the 2000's are built, plus about a month, but the build date is on your window sticker, in the lower right hand corner, the last six digits in the code. After the model year is closed out, SVT sends you a certificate with your build number and build date.

 

I noticed on mine (white 00) that there is a data plate visible between the drivers side cab and bed, screwed onto the front part of the bed. It has various codes and SVT with a four digit number underneath. Mine reads 2532. The sticker indicates the born on date was 29 Feb 2000... a leap year Lightning! My understanding from reading this board tho' is that they didn't begin rolling off the line until mid January (??) and they are only making 4750. That raises a question in my mind as to whether the 2532 is a build number. Any thoughts?
