hard or soft cover?
I Like hard Bed Covers...
If I were to do it again, I think I would get a thinner one, like a snuglid, but looking at the two, I think the Swiss patriot I have is more durable, the locking mechnism is plenty tough, and I like the "it lock the tailgate for you" feature.
I Just love how silver the truck is, and the black around the bed cover sets it off nice.

GTPMAN,
I have a soft cover on my L and can say without a doubt the hard covers are the way to go. They look alot nicer, more secure and are sealed better against the weather.

I am very happy with my soft cover. bggroth is correct about the benefits of a hard cover, and I think I will eventually get a roll n lock, but if you haul anything big on a regular basis, as I do, soft covers are very easy to roll up as well. Also mines held up very well in storm and rain, don't even see any water get through. I have an Extang BlackMaxx and the quality and fit is excellent. With a hard cover you need someone to help you every time you wanna haul something tall (like your dogs).

Hey guys. I was looking at the Pace-Edwards roll-top cover, but then found out that they don't make them for flaresides. I thought that was the way to go since it's fully retractable to haul tall things if I needed to.
Does anyone know if there is a retractable hard cover for the Lightning?
Thanks.

Try Specialtycovers.com and rollnlock.com .
Be aware however that the price on the rollnlock varies widely according to distributor... Check around....
Personally I like the electric model offered by specialty covers.... It is a bit extreme, but so is the L! The price tag is extreme too!
I had a rollnlock on a different truck last year and I loved it! and I now have the soft cover on my L.... The rollnlock is more convienient than the soft cover, the soft cover is more work, difficult to store, and doesn't look near as nice!
