Difference between series of F-150s
Ok, this is the first thing I have posted on this board although I have been reading it for awhile. First I must say very nice site--lots of info and cool people. I didn't know where to post this, so I guess it ended up here. There is one thing that I have been unable to find in all my searches. I am looking to buy a new F-150 mainly as a show truck, but I will also drive it occationally as well. Since I will be tricking out the whole truck(complete custom interior; new grill, bumpers, etc; and not to mention performance upgrades) I do not need to buy an already decked Lariot only to remove all the goodies. Besides the leather seats, stereo, etc(all the stuff listed on the ford homepage) is there really any difference between the series of F-150s? Is there any quality difference? Is there any kind of difference in the build quality, ride, sound dampening, or stuff like that? Thanks for all your help.
if you dont want power windows or doorlocks get the cheapest xl with a v 8.the xlt has pw and pdl and a lot of extra trim that you want need but its the only way you can get pw and pdl as of 4 months ago.get the 5.4 if you want the most power but it cost alot more than the 4.6.
LJackson,
Since nobody has replied I will attempt to help and maybe it will jumpstart your thread.
Other than standard equiptment such as the items you listed (leather seats, elec. windows & locks) they are the same truck.
There is more insulation and soundproofing in the xlt's and lariats. There is no quality difference as far as how well the truck is built between levels. I believe you are right for buying a lower level truck if you are going to be removing most of the parts that are the upgrade anyway. Hope this helps and if anybody else has anything i missed i'm sure i'll be corrected. Brian

According to the Ford site you can get power window/locks as an option. On the site, I have built the f-150 I want for under 23 grand. This F-150 basically has all the power and necessities(power windows, air cond.) that all the others have, but without some of the luxuries. What exactly is the difference in dampening though? I plan on doing several layers of fiberglass, not to mention vb and other damping, but I would still like to know. Oh, and one more question, can you actually order the truck WITHOUT some of the equipment? I really don't need the stereo, heck, I don't even need the bumpers or seats! Any help appreciated. Thanks
