Post SS/T's TOO EASY

Had an interesting encounter with a Dodge Ram SS/T last night, we were racing through pretty heavy traffic, starting from the street and all the way to the freeway. I was just waiting to see the red and blue lights, but I couldn't resist.

It all started at a stop light, I was already there, and then this red SS/T rushes up and starts revving his engine. He gets into the lane to the left of me, which puts him one car ahead of me. Like I said it was heavy traffic, after some zig zagging I ended up directly behind him at a red light, no one in front of him. Light turns green, his tires spin and then hook up, my tires spin even worse (got a little too anxious), but I manage to change lanes, pass him and cut in front of him.

Now we're entering the freeway on-ramp, which curves like half of a circle. It's a two laner, and as usual there is a car in front taking up both lanes. With part of my truck in the dirt I squeeze through at about 60mph, just praying that the tires maintain their grip, the SS/T which was right on my tailgate does the same but I can tell he's struggling as the distance between us increases. Then as the curve starts to straighten out I hammer it and the SS/T has no chance, he literally fades into the background. As I approach 100 mph I let off to give him a chance. I see him cutting throught traffic trying to get to me but it takes him so long it's like I am racing a Toyota truck. When he catches up to me I hammer it again and once again he falls waaay behind, so I just keep going.

Somehow I'm not satisfied. I just keep thinking can it be that easy? I used to have a 5.9 Ram myself and, well, I THOUGHT it had decent power at the time. I almost felt like I cheated or something because it just seemed too easy. DaimlerChrysler better get working on something better than that.

Be careful with these boneheads.

2 out of the 7 times with RTs when I sent them to school, an accident was involved and I wasn't the culprit, it was behind me.

L-7 RT-0 and about $70k-$90k in damage.

I've learned that only about 7-10 cars can beat us stoplight to stop light and they aren't made in this country.

The one's that are made here, done um and done um again, numbers are nice but I must be the fastest driver other than M.S, right. All I hear is what the f%*& do you have in there?

C5 yes you do make 305 at 5000 and you don't make s%^& at 3500, we make 325 at 5000 and 250 at 3500. Yes we are boats, but at 1/8 or a little less we'll kill ya every time.

Fact, believe it or not, come to Dallas.

BTW I ran across one of the bow ties boys and I asked if he wanted to race. He was very quick to inform me of all the work (bolted) that he had done to his Trans Am and I stated that I only have a filter and chip.

There wasn't a race, on his part!

Typical!

And yes I lost to a viper, it has a really cool looking trunk, but in time this will be different, (really strange looking hood)!

Brimstone,
Last week when I had my L at a car show, a guy came up and started asking numerous questions about the L. He currently has an SS/T and he wants an L really bad. He said the best time he ever ran here in Phoenix w/it was a 15.7. So, you definitely beat him fair and square, he for sure gave it all it had!

I feel left out, I can't get any R/T etc... to even pull up to me...the best I've had is some punk kid in a Honda Del SOl...would ya believe..he wasn't worthy, but I did give him a little smoke screen, just for giggles.

300m with a hemi ?? When ? Sounds like my wife will need to get a new 300m soon. Of course I used to think her current 300m was fast then I bought my lightning....

"Honey - Dont you think it is time you got a new car ??"

"But Doug it is only a couple years old"

"I know But I really think you deserve it "

And I am dying to drive a 350 hp hemi....

I'm on most of the dodge lists, the new hemi is due next year in 3 versions, all aluminum for 300M and Charger R/T, cast block/alum heads for Rams, and special hi-pro for nascar.

Nice kill, Brimstone. I have heard a story a long time ago about one of the Lightning owners here that had a (new?) Silverado on his a$$ going on an onramp, but he ended up in the ditch because his truck couldn't hang with the Lightning around the turn.

Factory_Tech, really nice kill, I have been in one of those (and no she didn't take my drunk self home like she said she would). Those del_sols really have some kick! (yeah right) I haven't been up against an R/T either, but I hope I never have to face one of those!
