I was considering this route, but after reading this I thought no way. Till Ford actually does this, like the Scuba F150 prototype, I wouldn't waste my money...

they are TRUE HID lights, but they are only the bulbs with all the hardware that is needed to go into our housings. here is the link http://www.hidlights.com , they are $825 on special. They said if they have any ?'s to call them. I also e-mailed http://www.autoindulgence.com. about their HID lights, received a reply, but with no cost on their system, they just stated that it was easy to instal would only take about 30-45 mins.

I figured that if we can possibly get enough people, maybe we can get another group purchase. I know it will cost money, but HID's are they way to go for the night-time driving!!!

Cool

LightningKid,

I too have been looking at these new HID kits and decided to hold off. They are way to knew to the market and I am not hearing very good things about them. Right now I settled with the replacement bulbs which are close to HID but thats about it.

I saw the picture of the prototype and it looks very interesting. I think it should work well since Lincoln and Ford are hand and hand . I think I am going to just settle with these bulbs untill something from ford comes out first. That way I can say, "but they are from the factory".

You watch. There will be hacks when the HID's come on all cars where you can turn up the power on them and get more light. Ohhh yeah baby

bobb, THANK YOU for the link regarding HID conversion. I have and still do have great interest in the HID lighting, but I want a fixture AND a lamp that will work together.

I had looked into both of the companies that Yoda posted links for, but they are just a conversion kit.
People are not going to be happy with the results of the universal bulb/custom mounting socket that comes with these retro-fit kits.
There is a huge problem with using this bulb in a reflector style housing that it was not designed for. The article explains it perfectly in a very un-biased, informative way.

I was involved with the Lincoln Mark 8 HID enough to have learned that "fractions of a millimeter" really do make a difference in the beam. I tried to retro a reflector style housing and there just was no way to get the beam right.

The other issue, besides preformance, is that these retro kits will be so bright that they will draw the attention of the police in a big hurry. They tend to look like a high beam light that is highly dispersed, which produces to much glare for on coming drivers.
The companies that sell these kits cover themselves
pretty good by having the disclaimer "not for use on public roads/highways" so we can't even blame them for selling us a faulty product.
Yoda, I am not trying to poo poo your post, but there are some real problems with retros I am keeping the hope that Ford wil come out with either a projector style light (Scuba proto)
or even better yet, a designed HID. (not holding my breath though)
