Aluminum motor going in...pics!

The past week we have been working very, very, very hard on getting our new Aluminum built Shortblock into FFW's Tuff Truck 2005 class winner's Lightning. The Shortblock is dressed in stock stroke and bore trim with Manley internals. This is the 4th Alum block we have installed in a Lightning. The owner Don Justice of North Carolina will be sporting his Aluminum motor with a pair of JDM ported heads and Crower custom ground .530" lift JDM cams. The heads that we used for this application are actually 4.6 heads. With the 4.6 heads you also get a set of cam girdles which help keep harmonics when turning 6000 plus RPM. This will add strength, balance, and durability . The Lighter aluminum block helped displace some of the weight added by Don's new roll cage. Along with that we added a new JDM Engineering battery reloaction tray which goes underneath the bed of the truck and gets the weight as low and to the rear of the truck as possible. With more and more trucks turning into 1/4 mile built vehicles this tray is a great added touch! Ill post pics on that later.

Here is some pics of Dons new motor, it is getting a whippe 2.3 blower and we plan on making 700 to the tires on 19 psi. Thats whipples 3.375 stock upper pulley and a 8lb lower. We dont need a 2.75 and 10lber to make this bad boy sing! When the time comes this truck will see a few little suspension upgrades like rear shock relocation and different traction bars to help shoot for the 9 sec zone NO SPRAY!! You can see in the pics the new motor mount that is required on the driver side. This is the only part you will have to buy to drop in our Aluminum shortblock!!

Curious what oil filter adapter/water outlet you guys are using?

Is a Ford part, or a custom made part?

Yeah; guess I am the first one to break a forged crank

Those aluminum blocks sure do look nice, but I can't afford a regular short block as is
