I've had my lighting for sale for about 2 weeks now, but it seems alot of people are interested in, but want it for free! Any advice on good ways to get rid of it?

 

I have read a few posts by people having trouble getting what they want for their Lightnings.

I believe the problem we have is that we are basicly selling a farm implement. Most folks out there see our precious Lightnings as just pick up trucks. Finding a
construction worker looking for a tool hauler that can run sub 14 second quarter mile passes is not easy to do.

People looking for "cool" fast rides, usually aren't looking for trucks. We appeal to a very limited market. Someone out there will appreciate what your selling, you just have to wait for that one out 100 to come looking.

 

Wait longer than 2 weeks to get results. Don't buy a vehicle that puts you in a desperate situation to sell it in the first place. Expect low ball offers from cyber-tire kickers, whatever the price is set at. Be happy that the beginning of the best window of sales opportunity is coming up and try to sell it before the big discounts and new models come out in fall. There are numerous Lightning websites that offer free classified areas beyond the typical generic websites. Good Luck.

 

I've been trying to sell my 99 for about 2 months. Got lots of "Wish I had the money", "Wanna trade for an Expy", "I'm gonna move on it this weekend", etc. I think that between christmas and winter the timing is not all that good for selling. I am hoping that when it warms up people will be for able to buy. FWIW, I took it out for a spin yesterday after having stored it most of the winter. I had a great time and now remember why I like it so much.

 

Welcome to the wonderful world of "retail" sales! That's why most people trade in their vehicles rather than sell themselves even though you generally come out much better selling outright. It's just that you have to tollerate so much BS and so many AH's retailing ANYTHING these days! I was in retail sales for over 20 years and wouldn't go back into it for anything!
Your best bet would be to use the forum classifieds for the best exposure I would think. Place an ad in all three major L forums! Good Luck!
