Post Switch install for flip chip.. (with pics)

If you don't have sals chip and filter... stop whatever you're doing.. and get one now.. I can't say how much better it makes your beast run.. it's amazing...

I installed the switch in a great place.. at least in my own mind. No modification to anything, hidden from other people, yet very easy to get to.

Pull off the front bexel peace around the radio...

Take out the 4 9/32nds switches around heater controls

Run the wire from the flip chip up behind the glove box.. and to the switch area..

After this you can get ready to wire tie the swtich in place

This is where mine ended up...

And you can see how easy it is to get to..

I put the wiring on it... but the dash bezel back on.. and it's perfect.

I made sure my switch was set so the ON position was pushed forward... forward = fast... easy to remember... the switch can be flipped easily.. from flipping down the lighter access...

Just my $.02, thought you might like to see it..

Brad

Now thats a way to show everyone how install it!! Great detail! Are you gonna install some headers? How 'bout the AIM drop shackles? I really appreciate your effort in thinking about us here when you were installing it.
Cool place to install the chip switch.

Thumbs up

Actually I have a pair of aim drop shackles in the garage waiting to be installed.. I know it won't be hard but damn it's cold here in cincy.. like 35 degrees today...

I'll do a step my step of it as soon as it warms up... digital cameras are cool... and it only takes a second to take pics as you're doing stuff

While I have the truck up I'll take some pics of the intereceptor as well... it's right there... show people where it plugs into the trans...

SVT2Go,

Nice job. Thanks for the info.

However there's another place which is even easier. How's this?

Remove ashtray, slip butter knife or thin putty knife into each side above the cup holder tray. Release catch on each side, pull out cup holder, (watch out for light wire), note area of relief where switch can slide in and fit perfectly with friction on left inner side of cup holder. Use 3/8 drill to make holes where switch contacts are, route wire bundle from Sal's chip module under dash, place through cupholder area, coil up excess, plug wire into switch contacts, (forward is chip on for me), replace cupholder. You may have to tape wire bundle to back of cupholder to keep it out of the way of the catch that releases holder. You can even still put in a cup without affecting switch.

Isn't stealth wonderful?

Boy, there is something strange here. Every time I pull up this page my image disappears. I'm certain the [IMG] syntax is correct. If you can't see the picture, here is the URL.

adp,
I like your idea as well.. but that drill word bothers me... I'd rather keep my L 100% stock if I can... no holes... which is how I figured out my above scenario

SVT2Go,

I know how you feel. It is why I'm waiting for the numbers before I put any exhaust mods on my truck. If it doesn't bolt on without modification, I don't want it.

The cup holder situation, however, is different. The holes are drilled in the very back of the plastic that surrounds the cup holder. There is a recess where the switch fits. If you removed the switch, you would never see the holes.

I don't feel too bad about changing things that can't be seen.

They way we all approach things differently is great fun to see and I enjoy what we learn from each other.

Anyway, nice job. Stealth Rules! (As my teenage son would say!)

Great info SVT. One question though - how do you pull the radio bezel off?

Its these little steps that are often omitted and you don't know how to do it right until after you have gouged your dash and broken half a dozen little plastice clips you know you will never be able to replace.

Pull.. straight out... it just pops off..

You're right.. I missed the first step.. just I've done it a 1000 times and don't think about it..
