Question Edelbrock, Bassini, Flowmaster, oh my...

I've seen a slew of posts now for all different exhausts with all different makes, yet I've never really seen any that give a decisive "this is the good combo" or "this is the good muffler".

I know that alot of the exhausts are giving too much back in performance, so I'm looking at changing mine for more of a sound perspective...want to get a bit louder, more bellow.

I have no idea which way to head... I've seen Flowmaster 40's, Flowmaster 50's, Bassini, and Edelbrock... Which one of these would be good for the truck while improving the sound I am looking for? I do not want to negatively effect my torque either by putting on something with too much flow...while its better for high speeds, I don't really plan on doing 140 too often... I'd like to try to keep the low-end performance.

Thanks,
Daniel

Take off you muffler and see if you like the way it sounds, its pretty loud, but the sound is also coming from right underneath you. I am thinking of running straight pipes out the side sans muffler, some of these guys have had it done for about $50. I put the muffler back on, and it sounds like I am in an escort.

OK, If you want to spend a few bucks on a sound, then go for it. This truck is not the first performance vehicle that was ever made, money talks and BS Walks. Advice: Spend the money on a system.

Of course, if you're from Texas, you have to shoot the holes in the muffler, you can't just drill'em.

I'm not looking for any huge performance stuff...I just don't want to HURT my performance. I was wondering which of the above give the richest sound.

I find that the Ford system without the muffler is a bit loud but...I like it that way. I may have lost a small amount of torque but this truck has so much. My tires still break loose just like before. This system is not for the weak or sensitive folks. It is loud. Try it. For $50.00 is all you could loose. If you don`t like it, get an aftermarket right away. Thoses few days you run without the stock muffler should tell you everything you need to know....

Cool

Twisted,

Can you give me more info on exactly what you did? I know your running some type of straight pipe, but pictures, or a description of the process would really be great. I am thinking of going in that direction, but using all Bassani parts up through the cats & then running straight, and finishing off with Bassani tips.

Tell me what you think?
