Fords forever
went to the annual Fords Forever event today at Knottsberry. Lots of cobras, panteras, hot rods etc. Too many mustang cobras. Saleen was there with his stuff. There were only about four gen. II Lightnings. I was sanding in front of one when who comes by but Jay Leno. You could tell that he realy liked the lightnigs. He said "thats some truck, huh.
There was a red L with a very nicely done cap with the letters Lightning etched into the side glass. Inside was carpeted with a seat that unfolded into a bed. Not my cup of tea but it did look cool. JBA had a black with their headers. Said they were worth 20HP. It also had a cobra style hood with the two scoops that were both functional and routed to a K&N in a box.Had a superchip. It was lowered temporally but they said that Hotchkiss was working on a complete suspension that should put cornering at over .9 g's! They claimed to be dynoing at 385 rwhp and a 13.6 quarter mile. Doesn't add up. Stock should produce that.
The small number of Lightnings among hundreds of Fords highlighted the exclusivity of our trucks. Last few years I was there with a cobra and got lost in the crowd.
