Opinions on engine flushing

No where does Ford recommend an engine oil flush. Many dealerships sell this service but it shouldn't be necessary on a vehicle with 9k miles on it. How often do you change your oil and where do you have it done? We have a display in our dealer of a Motorcraft oil filter vs. several aftermarket filters and it is hard to believe how cheaply the others are made. I am surprised they filter anything at all. Some don't even have a bypass valve in them. If you change your oil every 3k/5k miles and use quality 5w-20 oil and a quality filter, then you should never have any problems.

well,
speaking of coolant, what are the best steps to take on doing this on our trucks. I have 20k on my 2000 and have never officially changed or flushed the coolant, but a 2 seasons ago i changed a good part of it when I did a water pump. My i/c fluid has been changed a few times.
Are we referring to the oil or the coolant?? That 30K flush sounds more like the coolant flush.

Premium Gold coolant gets first replacement at 5 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Then at 3 years or 50,000 miles for subsequent replacement. For green coolant, the intervals are 4 years or 45,000 for first replacement, and every 30,000 miles afterwards.
Whe're talking about oil....
metallion- I have it done every 3K miles by a mechanic I know at a Chevron. BS, the Motorcraft filters are cheap.
I use Mobil one 5w-20 with a Mobil one filter.

You could buy like 3 Moto filters for the price of one Mobil 1 Filter. I have always heard and been told that the Moto filters are the best for our trucks.
