Question JBA Headers & Borla exhaust

I am ordering some JBA headers with Borla catback exhaust. Has anyone experimented with how much extra hp these bring? Normally I like the Borla exhaust note, anyone heard how these sound on a Lightning?

Thumbs up

I installed the top quality Borla muffler with only a floor jack (two braces for safety), one wrench, one can of break-free and about 1/2 hour time. Truck Performance has the #14872 one piece cat back for $399. The sound is very mellow and deep. Almost no change at idle and slow cruse. At 2000 to 2500 (typical highway RPM) slightly louder and deeper than stock sound is heard. At WOT that bad boy really barks. It sets off car alarms and just about blows people over since the exhaust is almost comming right out without restriction, just the patented lazy S sound reduction technology. All stainless and very vibration free, using all stock rubber mountings and NO cutting. My JBA,s are still in the box. Also top quality except for the mounting hardware. I suggest going to Stage 8 stuff. Not cheap, but will never work loose. Good luck.

Huahh, thats Will, that was just what I was hoping to hear, nice and mellow during most of your driving but mean when you want it to be. How about the performance aspect, have noticed any gain in hp or throttle response?
Also thanks for the tip on "Truck Performance", I think Summit charges around $430 for theirs. Jeff

The stock muffler setup is not too bad for restriction. The gains for Borla alone are not known because I put on the Airraid filter at the same time. They did make a difference, especially from half throttle up. Gas milage also went up from 1 to 2 MPG. The dealer on this web had a special that beat the Airaid by $20, I paid $219, but the Borla price was very good at Truck Perf. Phone: 1 800 719 8100

Biggest change came with the Superchip. When all four systems are in place I expect they will work well together. That is what happened with my 89 Turbo Supra, the sum of the parts was less than the sum of the total package. The air pump theory I believe to be true, especially with forced induction motors.
