Welcome to the board and congrads on the new L. You will love every minute of owning it and will probably go broke playing with it. But what you gonna do, leave it for your kids?

Welkommen.
But, to Yoda, I posted this question in an earlier post, but got no response, so I try, try, again. Many people have commented on how much stronger the L. gets after 3-4K. I wouldn't know, I only have about 900m. on my L. However, this does not make sense to me. But, I am not that mechanically inclined, so perhaps someone can explain it to me. The tolerances in the L. as delivered are such that it does not require a break-in period, other than varying the rpm. As someone here said, "Drive it like you stole it". It is hard to fathom how any significant wear, ie. "loosening" could occur in a paltry 3K miles. My theory is that in that period of time the serpentine belt could stretch to an appreciable (jeez, its hard to type after a couple G&Ts) degree, which could result in significantly lower parasitic losses. Please, somebody comment, and validate my existance as a human being, if not a full fledged member of the cadre.

Welcome Autothrottle!!!
Is there any chance 'Autothrottle' is in reference to an aircraft equipt with an autothrottle system? O.K.,... slim, but possible.

Later, Jake...

Alphadoggie,

I could give the lecture about friction and surfaces lapping and polishing onto each other, but Ford claims an already run-in engine.

This does not make much sense, I know, but trust me, at around 2500-3500 miles, you gradually get another 5-10% power.

Welcome to the board. I think you'll enjoy this board as much as your new L. Congrats on the purchase. I've had mine for 6 weeks and love every minute of it. When I first picked it up, I was real dissapointed in the power, but it has felt progressively better and I have 1400 miles on it.
