Talking Oh My Gosh!!!

Well, I finally got the courage to use the race program on my chip at the FLORIDA TRUCK SHOOT-OUT today. I put some 110 octane in and "let-r-rip". I was suprised to say the least. Additionally, I was suprised at how much removing my front sway bar would help on my 60ft times. My tuner has said time and time agian to take it off as it aids in weight distribution. Well here are the numbers....

Lakeland Motorspeedway (1/8th mile track)

STREET TUNE:
1st run---8.17 at 85
2nd run---8.21 at 85
3rd run---8.29 at 84

RACE TUNE (and no front sway-bar and tailgate):
1st run---7.61 at 91----60ft was 1.36
2nd run---7.77 at 90----60 ft was 1.33

This was my first run at an 1/8th mile track. I still can't belive that my race tune made that much of a difference. All I did was remove my sway bar and add 110 octane. This was with any nitrous and on a stock block. Does anyone know what my 1/4 mile would equate to?

My previous best 60ft time was 1.69. Funny thing is.....for everyone else....the track WASN'T hooking that well.

Are you sure that 60' is right? I have seen a couple Lightnings accidentally line up their rear tires in the starting beam and cause 60's like that. It would take a ton of changes to go froma 1.6 to a 1.3 60'.

Same thing I thought.......if he is cutting 1.3 short times and only running 7.6's there is a major problem.

I thought the same thing....but I assure you....the time slip is correct (will post pics of it tommorrow). My R/T is extremely poor (1.6) on both on my race tune though as my idle was rough and hit 400rpm right before launch so it did affect my time as I "bogged" right before I hit the loud pedal....which created a "hiccup" before I left the starting gate. The guy who raced next to me ran a 7.6 when I ran a 7.7 and his 60ft was 1.8, but assure you I was not over the line. I am not complaining....just amazed that so little physical change and my race tune could make such a difference.

Not to mention I haven't put my nitrious in yet....which I counted on getting me into the 11's.

here are the time slips for my last two laps on my race tune......

First run:

Second run:

Again...I was experiencing some "bog" right before I took off....so my R/T was way out of wack. But quickly made up for it

strange but true

I am not here to doubt you and I guess time slips don't lie BUT the 1.33 60' seems very weird considering your 1/8 mile ET and MPH. My best of a 1.52 coming out of the gate on a 100shot neted me a 7.04@95.31 MPH Johnny Lightning's truck runs similar 60 ft times and in the 9.60 range@ 140+ Either your truck is coming out and dead hooking with 775+RWHP and some little gremlins are yanking 3 of your coil packs from the top of your motor or your truck is one BAD azz 60 foot machine. This coming from a guy that drives a farm truck!!!

Yea...trust me....I was really wondering myself. BTW....after careful review....I originally posted the wrong MPH on my last two runs. I was only hitting 88 +/- MPH.

yup, those are totally bogus 60' times, sorry to tell you. something is wrong with your track's timers i do believe. BTW, i've seen about 4 or 5 hundreths or so when pulling my sway bar.

Yea....I have looked over my other runs on that lane as well as a few others who ran on that lane. All look normal. The guy who ran right after me on that same lane ran a 1.98 60ft. Then I lined up right after him (hot lapped) and did the same thing again....can't figure it out.

My first run on that lane (with sway bar) was a 1.69 60ft. This was about an hour before. Then I ran almost identical on the opposite lane with sway bar on. Took it off and ran opposite lane....and that is when the times went way down.

All indications say that somehow the timer messed up....and I have never come close to this kind of 60ft. But would it happen twice in a row....and...with everyone running normally on the same lane? Just weird is all. Anyone else have any idea how that happened?
