Hey Selva1,

I read the article also. "wasted on an open rear end" what idiots!! Lets see....I want the most powerful engine ya got....uh...no I don't want a LS rear, im going to be doing time trials with it. The mag leads you to believe that you can't get a LS rear. I also couldn't believe the slam toward the F-150 styling. While I have read many other mags that have said the Tundra has very similar lines to the F-150. The Japanese are experts at copying American successes. Look at how many Harley look alikes they make now. And several years agot (1970 or so, thats dating me) Toyota tried to copy the Mach 1 Mustang. I can't remember the name, Cellica maybe, but it looked like a 7/8 scale Mach1. At the time a Mustang was priceless in Japan.

Here is a quote from truck trend on line road test of the Lightning I was reading.

************Quote***************************
And while Dodge's current Dakota R/T 5.9 runs with the Lightning on the track, its suspension can't match the Ford's suppleness or rock-solid stability.
***********End Quote************************

Maybe they have a different definition of 'running with' than I do.

1/4 mile for Dakota R/T 15.6 (truck trend)
1/4 mile for Lightning 14.6 (truck trend)

That is one full second faster on the track even according to their own numbers. That is closer to 'butt whipping' than 'running with' in my book.

I guess we will have to accurately represent our trucks on the street because the magazines are not going to do it in their articles.

Question

hey all,
i don't know about the rest of you, but i seem to notice that when the mags do testing of so-called hot rod trucks, ours do not seem
to be invited to the party....is there a hidden message in this lack of attention?..or is it just the fact that do not want to keep
giving kudos to the best sports truck out there....
just a passing thought,

Steve

I love these Magazine guys, they drove the Lightning and I’m sure they had a great hoot with it.

They knew only 5000 where made in 99 so they where grateful enough to let us kill a bunch of cars that year.

I stopped by to look at a 70 mustang Mach 1 tonight and got a little lost in traffic from the owner. When I caught up I apologized that traffic sucked and he said ‘I could here your Lightning spooling up from behind I knew you would be here soon enough’.

Um, I think we’re made.

I see a great deal of people trying to avoid me on the streets now, compared to 6 months ago.

It seemed like everyone wanted to race a pretty little red truck, now I feel like Mike Tyson.
