Post Flareside box on Gen I

Has anybody put a flareside box on a first Gen Lightning? I think they should of put them on from the factory. Any opinions?

I agree with you! I asked my local friendly Ford store in '94 if a Lightning stepside was possible, and was blown off. I still think it would be a worthwhile conversion, and would make a neat looking, compact truck. I thought the stepside/flareside bed on the earlier body style looked good, and looked much lighter than the wide bed.

I've seen one. A homemade one anyway. This rich lawyer here in Texas had one made. His daughter wreck a single cab flareside and he had it rebuilt to '93 Lightning specs - engine, seats, stickers, tires, lowered, etc. Looked real sharp. Except it was red. Should have been white.
