Post Interfacing stock remote entry/securi key w/alarm.

Hey,

Does anyone have any info on alarms that would interface with the stock remote entry and securikey ignition kill system in the car?

Being 12mi from Newark, NJ -- car theft capital -- I'd like to get a nice security system and not knock off any of the dealear security (securikey) in the process.

I already have lojak, but I'd like to get something with impact sensors and perhaps radar permiter sensing.

Daniel

Daniel,
When I purchased my L, I purchased a DEI alarm system. The dealer had the installer come to my work to perform the install. The system integrated with my factory remote. When I lock the doors via remote, the alarm is armed, unlock disarm, the system has the ignition kill.

Dei makes a lot of nice alarms and has been in the business for a while. Clifford makes an alarm that has 4 buttons on it, for lock and unlock of the doors, arm and disarm of the alarm, and an additional *extra key, for remote trunk, or maybe snuglid (hint hint) Alpine does the same. The best bet is to go to your local stereo shop, preferebly someone that carries high end equipment, such as JL and Fosgate. They will be able to help you pick your alarm. They will throw stuff at you like back up battery, dual stage piezo sensor, proximity sensor, etc etc etc.

Hey pawn,
Ford system intergrates w/factory alarm-
2 options; one with impact sense-one without. I believe its made by Code Alarm. The alarm horn is one of the loudest I've heard, of course that wasn't enough

Stick with the DEI, it just plugs into the factory system that came on the truck and will add two keyless entry remotes, and a siren with six different tones. It also can be programed to be passive or active arming. Simple and inexpensive.

Thanks guys... I'll follow up these names with a couple of the audiophile junkies that I'm know around here and see what I can come up with.

PS
Is everyone else over that paranoid "I need to take two parking spaces so I get no door dings" stage yet? I havn't gotten past that.

I picked up a Harada...remote start, keyless entry, dome lite on, flashes the lights, sounds the horn and several other options.
Hooked it up to My adopted Acura Intergra Type R.
Got it for $45.00 over at www.ubid.com in the mobile section. T it into the harness with a wire code I got somewhere offline.Stuck the module behind the kick panel. Put the antenna under the dash. Walked around in front of My Brick home and across the street maybe 40 yards and opened the doors. Has exceptional range. Works very nice. Haven't reconfirgured my torso enough to attempt the other options yet. I am thinking about getting one for the L. Remote start on the acura prolly will not be hooked up due to the mixer. The auto in the L would be ok I would think. Nice cool cabin to get into in the summer time. Means alot to me down here in the steamy south.
