Power Braking
The problem is that the minute you launch the wheels are going to break loose even worse than with an idle RPM launch. Then you have to let off and then reapply the gas or just wait for it to grab. this does not equate to fastest time. I found that Brake, idle, apply power (about 1/2 pedal) allow tires to grab, push pedal down as fast as you can WITHOUT braking tires loose gives best time.
These shocks are way to hard for racing. I'm going to try some different shocks. The next thing that makes sense to change are the springs. The trucks that I have seen with the 2" lowered shackles don't seem to gain any better traction than stock.

Noelvm: Ayyy that's way too much stuff to do. Just throw on a set of Hoosiers and nail the throttle!!!!! I get plenty of hook with 15 psi no tubes. It's great neck snapping fun! My track up here is supposed to open up Saturday. I'll post some 60 footers if it does open.
Good luck, Every track is different. Here in Texas it's hot and it's gonna get hotter. The little 1/8 track that we were all at last weekend was really slick. It was a challenge to get off the line. A better track might provide better traction at the line. Wyldman had slicks but they didn't help him any.
Did you see the Lightning vs Corvette article in the new Hot Rod? They were suprised and impressed with the L.

IT'S THE MAY ISSUE. JUST REC TODAY.

I've been testing on the street (I didn't just say street racing did I) and have had great luck with the Hoosiers.
Which month of HR? March/April? I'd like to read that one
Temp's here are 62/65 high 25/30 lows
Dooohhhh!!! May, I'll see if it hit the newstand up here

In case you guys are curious, I reduced my 1/4 e.t. by .3 tenths with the change over to Drag T/A`s from the stock F1`s. I accomplished this with a 1500 r.p.m. brake torque and mashing the gas pedal on the last yellow. I do have minimal tire slip wit this method. But, you must also take into cosiderstion that my local track also lays down some VHT(traction compound)the first 100'feet....Which I believe helps a great deal.

My best times so far are 3 runs in the 13,0`s.My best run was a 13.06 @105.33, Since then I have run as high as 106.66 twice with both runs at 13.17 and a 13.13...I`m hoping with the switch over to Drag E.T.`s would help dip into the 12`s...I will find out on Saturday,my SVT is making good power, but that could be because of my water injection(coolant Leak)....LOL....
98_SVT_COBRA,
Thanks for explaining that in detail, I'll try just launching from idle next time. Now what is "trans brake?"

Last weekend at the track there was another stock L there. he was powerbraking at the line and running 14.1 w/ no spin. I got him to stop PBing and he ran 13.71. Several things happen when you powerbrake, you begin to heatsoak the intercooler
, you lower the flash stall speed of the converter (flash speed is the peek RPM that the engine hits as the converter grabs, the higher the initial rpm the higher the internal pressure in the converter and the lower the flash stall speed) , and load the chassis reducing it's torque reaction
(this is why a trans brake is better, it doesn't load the chassis). Most cars/trucks will not benefit from powerbraking, turbo charged cars/trucks are the exception since they can eliminate a great deal of turbo lag.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to ask Paul WTF he was taling about. He did mention that the truck had 3:73's, so maybe he played around changed up the rear end beforehand.
