Got My Cervinis Hood
Got my Cervinis Ram Air Hood - without the ram air kit for now. Reason I rushed to get it is because a part of my garage door fell on and dented my stock hood a few days ago.
Some questions for other people who have used Cervinis hoods before:
Should I expect a perfect fit right off the bat, or will adjustments probably have to be made?
There is a small dent on the hood, will this be able to come out with sanding?
Also the body shop I went to get an estimate at today wants $350, that includes priming and prepping, install, paint, and drilling holes so I can use the stock washer squirters. Does that sound reasonable? The price does not include any adjustments that need to be made for fitting/alignment, or fixing the dent - they charge $30/hr for that stuff so I want to get an idea from those who have used hoods from this company, on how long it would take for fitting adjustments & dent removal.
Thanks for any help,
Mike

Mike,
I had a perfect fit with my Cervini`s Cowl hood, the only adjustments I had was to line up the hood properly on the hinges. I would recommend that you install it and check all corners, you may or may not need some light sanding on the underside edges of the hood. They are thicker just for this reason. As far as the little dent, if it`s a chip in the fiberglass you can repair it yourself very easily. As far as paying 350, that`s just way too high in my opinion.I would look around for a better price, but not have it affect the quality of the job.I have had mine off about 6 times already, ther`s really nothing to installing and removing the hood.My squirters were relocated to the underside of the hood with a kit that was supplied with it.Do you have the ram-air with or without the cowl? I would guess to say that you have no cowl lift, is that why you need to drill new holes for the squirters?
Hope this helps, I would definitly shop around for a better price......

Spiro, I don't know what hood you have, but the only one labeled as a 98-00 F150 hood is the RAM AIR hood, there is no cowl to it. The earlier model year hood has it.
Their pic shows no washers, so I'd imagine you have to get it drilled. Mike, let me know how it goes, because I think this is the hood I'm going to buy too.
Here's the pick of it: http://www.cervinis.com/9800F250and9700F150.html

Spiro,
Thanks, I'm gonna look around for better prices. How can I fix the chip in the fiberglass myself? I'm probably gonna install it myself as well. Also it does come with it's own squirters, they are these little tubes that stick out from the end of the hood, not the most attractive IMO, although I don't know how visible they are with the hood attached. I will see when I check to make sure the hood fits properly. I want to try to do as much of it myself as possible.

I have the ram air hood on a Ranger, and it looks great. I put it on when the truck was wrecked, so all I paid was the differnce between a stock hood and the new one, install was on the other guy's insurance.
I will say this, compared to ANY other fiberglass out there, Cervini's is THE S**T!
Twice as sturdy as anything else on the market.
Question, can you now get the Ram Air kit that makes it funcional? It's not listed on their web site.

Mike,
If you check your local auto parts stores they should carry some type of fiberglass repair kits.Follow the directions carefully, you should have no problem. If the hood came with the squirter kit like mine, I would try to make it work I don`t think you would like to add holes to that great hood. What I did to my hood was prefit, and wetsanded all that gelcoat off, this made it alot easier for my friend that painted the hood. The prep work is very important, the more you can do yourself the better price a body shop could give you.
Hope this helps....can`t wait to see the finished product
