Exhaust Problems!

Hi all,

Had my JDM Silver Bullet fitted today! I thought I knew what a loud exhaust was! Guess not!

But thats not the point of my post.

On the passenger side the rear cat is starting to rattle. If you hit it, you can tell that it is clattering inside. When the truck is at idel it makes a hell of a racket and makes my truck sound like an old wreck.

So what should I do?

My current thought is to find a local exhaust manufacturer who can cut out and weld two high flow cats into the exhaust (I assume doing both will help keep things even!). Any reasons why this would be a bad thing to do?

I believe I can simply pipe past the cats, but I know that would be just too loud.

Or am I nmissing something here?

Thr truck has 5000 miles on it and isnt even at 6 months old yet! sigh! Not happy! (In the UK = NO WARRANTY!!)

Finally. There is a huge amount of boom from the exhaust. Is this because I have a hard cover, or are they all a bit that way. (Can no longer use my in truck cellular car kit)

P.S. Love the noise though!

How yer doing mate.

Check to see if you have anything loose in the cat.
You need to remove it and maybe blow through with airline.
It may be a bit of welding spatter or something has come loose and is rattling around inside.

Check to make sure the heat shields are not fouling on the system or a bracket has not moved allowing contact somewhere.

If it's too noisey inside maybe you have the pipes or box touching floor pan.
If not just ease off the loud pedal when your on the phone.
If no luck call round sometime and we can take a look at it.

Check out the RebelV8 site - be good to see you there.

I phoned JIm the other day and he thought I was you! Thought you were a southerner!

Today whilst my truck was on the ramp I asked the bloke to check what the problem could be (Bauer Millet said that the front passenger cat was gone. 600 Miles and knackered).

When he thumped it it clattered quite badly. The passenger side one makes no noise at all when you thump that one! Sort of like a chunk of honeycomb inside has fallen out and it banging about in there.

At idle whatever it is resolates likle hell. It cant be heard on the move though.

(Jim told me that the cats are usually really tough as well. 5000 miles new just isnt funny!)

Is it easy to remove the cats then?

After my first day with it I am starting to get used to it. WHen using hands free, people seem to think I am on the phone with the window open. So no big deal really!

Cheers
