Thumbs up For Those Suffering From Lumbar Kidney Failure

I couldn't take it anymore. The seat frame in the lumbar supports was killing me! Felt like my kidneys were seizing on me.

Took the seat out. Pretty simple if you have the right size torx socket. Two electrical disconnects under the rear of the seat.

Now, with the seat on the floor (carpeted please, let's not get them dirty) let the seat back tilt forward. At the bottom edge of the seat back is where all the goodies are. The front and back material is joined by what I'll call "C" channels. This is the only difficult part because they are barbed, such that they won't pull apart. Put a pair of needle nose pliers in the end of the channel and spread them. The channel will now start to separate. With a little prying, they will finally come completely apart.

The zipper makes these seats a snap from here on out. Unzip the back of the seat and then start lifting the cover up. There are two white plastic strips that clip over vertical frame wires. Unclip them. They hold the fabric pulls that pull the seat cover front in tight.

Now you can remove as much of the cover as you want. I raised mine up over the lumbar bolsters.

The foam is easily pulled off the frame, exposing the 5/16" wire that is the offender. I just put a pry bar between this wire and the seat frame and spread them about 3/4" outwards.

Slip the foam back on and have a seat. Comfortable? Adjust as necessary and put everything back together.

Sounds complex, but it only took 1/2 hr. to make my baby really comfy.

Hope this helps anybody feeling uncomfortable in an otherwise superb truck.

I'm sure we all very in our different sizes. I'm 2'3 weigh 30lbs (on a bad day) & needed to have 4 phone books along with 3ft long pedal adjusters added so my 3 toed green feet could press the gas & brake.......oops that was in a galaxy in a far, far, oh never mind

I guess we all differ in sizes, mine seems to fit just perfeclty, but I can see if I was any larger, then it might get uncomfortable.

Cool

The problem with my seats was that the lumbar frame wires stuck straight out from the seat back frame. Even without padding, they were going to contact my back.

As these are just tack welded on, there is definitely room for error.

Anyway, I spread them and now I'm happy. (Actually I find this quite often! ) You can't see a difference over the passenger side.
