I've currently got (3) JL 10W6's behind the seat, MBQuart 5 1/4" components in the door, and 6 1/2's in back panel (and yes you can hear them very well back there!)

Clonetek: I know this has been asked a million times before but I don't know what to search for (stay off my back search police).
Where did you get that Lightning piece above your head unit? And is it possible for me to get one, how much, ect...
I am getting the newer Kenwood X959 and it would look really nice with it. Thanks in advance,

Jon

If you are looking to keeps the amps to a minimum, but just get some nicer sound out of the truck, then...

You can use the stock radio, no prob. Get some speakers... 6x8's are stock and should bolt right in with no drilling, or braket making.

If you buy the thunderform with the built in amp (there are two models, one iwth, one without) it sounds pretty damn good... It's a low current amp and really hit nicely... the Thunder form with the amp has a built in crossover and gain adjustment and comes with everything but the audio wires needed... (you will need speaker line if you plan on using the stock reciever. While powering sub amps with a "High level/Speaker level" input isn't the best for SQ, I had mine like that for a while before I got my head unit installed and it sounded just fine... you can tap from the back speakers.

It all depends on how much $$$ you want to spend. There are infinite routes you can go with enough $$$... but the method above, with 4 6x8's and the thunderform should be less than $750... and is self installable... very easy... I did mine in an hour and a half...

PS, if you order from crutchfield, they send you any/all wiring harnesses you'd need (so you don't have to cut the factory wires - for example, - they ship speaker harnesses that plug your aftermarket speakers into the stock harness) and detail instructions on how to remove door panels, bolt down the thunderform, pull the stock head unit out, etc...

hope this helps.

If you are on a budget, here's what I got through Crutchfield at the beginning of the year.
Infinity Kappa components up front. (1/2 price)
6x8 Kappa's in rear
5 channel Kenwood amp (1/2 price)
thunderform

$900

Kept head unit and used speaker level inputs on amp (make sure amp is switchable)
Mounted tweets on little panel space inside side-view mirrors on door panel.
Sounds pretty good for the money.

Just my .02

Everybody has their own ideas and usually likes the outcome.. So I put in Focal speakers (not cheap) an Alpine Amp and MB Quart speakers in the back because they are just filler.. But I would strongly suggest that you Dynamat the doors.. what a difference!!You will pick up a few db's just by doing this alone and it makes your ride quieter to boot..
