Have any trick to drop the fuel consume?

Hello all

I am going to shipping my lightning to my own country.(Taiwan)

But I get a problem, , I need to pass a fuel consume test when I ship my car back to Taiwan.
The standard for the test is 14Miles/Gallon (5.4KM/Liter)

I think the standard is a little bit hard to pass for my L.(I always run for 12miles/gallon)

So I’d like to ask if anyone know any trick that can drop the fuel consume?

Does SCT 2 tuner will help that?

Thanks a lot

PS:I only change the K&N filter

Wow, a lightning in Taiwan? You'll be able to drive across the island in under an hour.

Yeah, I'd try that ^^ removing the belt, if not, see if a tuner can whip you up a lower-performance tune, that may help the gas run too.

Run 40psi in all the tires (for this test only, not as a daily routine)
Fresh synthetic oil change
Stay out of the boost
A tune custom made for this couldn't hurt, contact a tuner

Good luck.

I would go with high octane fuel and out of boost. High octane saves me some fuel on the Autobahn.

Do not take the belt off the SC. This would cause you to get more aggressive with the throttle and probably cost mileage.
You could borrow some narrower tires and wheels for the test. High pressure is a good idea.

I don't know how the test is run; but, without stop and go traffic, you should be able to get 14 mpg easily. Some guys are getting very good gas mileage with economy programs from their tuner. Sal at PSP has done them. I'd give him, or the tuner of your choice, a call.

Stay off the loud peddle, and you could probably pass the test anyway.

make sure its running right and has clean air filter and right air pressure
You should be able to get 14 easy - I know I can get 14 around town if I try really hard

swap the pullys out with Harley pullys, I get about 16 if I am cruzing, even in stop and go but if you hear the supercharger yill not get that.

From your figures of 14mpg - 5.4km/liter, that means that you are looking at an Imperial gallon and not a U.S. gallon.
Funnily enough, even though, according to tradition, everything is bigger in America, an Imperial gallon is larger than the U.S version

1 x US gallon = 3.8 liters

1 x Imp Gallon = 4.5 liters (or 1.2 US gallons)

Ok, stay with me here. You say that you only get 12 mpg which is 19.31 km per gallon.
Divide that by 3.8 for litres and you are doing 5.1 km/litre anyway which is pretty close.
If you make sure that the truck is in tune and the tyres are pumped up, I'll be t you could squeeze that 0.3 km out of a litre.

How about an electric fan?

I picked up 2 MPG with mine, with just that mod. That would surely push you over the 5.4 km/litre limit.

With gasoline prices at $2.84 in Taipei they are roughly the same as here in the states. But if they go way up over there you might not be able to afford to drive it. The e-fan and e-water pump should free up a few mpg's, narrower tires at the highest pressure will help as well, but how do they go about testing the mileage in your truck? Did anyone know that gas was the equivalent of $.12 a gallon in Caracas Venezuela.

Thanks guys ! I am really appreciate for the advises.

For the test , they will use their own octane for it
I think the octane which they are using for the test should be the high octane one.

I can neither change my tires , rims and tires' PSI .
They will make sure I am using stock tire and rims before the test.
also, they have the standard for the tires' PSI .

The fuel consume test has 2 parts. both tests are use machine to control.
First part is to mimic running in the city. 20 M/H without stop for 2 hours.
Second part is to mimic running on the freeway. 60M/H without stop for 2 hours.

Sorry my english is not very good . hope you guys can understand what the meaning is.

I think I will contact to the SCT2 dealer and try to ask if they have any economy programs.
