What happened to Lightning?

Okay, I'm confused.

The pre-'97 models were called "Flare Side," and then the '97-'04 models were Lightnings. Well, what happened to the Lightnings in 2004+ models? All I can find that's close to a Lightning is either the STX or the "Street Boss." I also haven't seen a sport model.

Any help?

So, basically the Lightning was replaced by the Street Boss and the Sport was replaced by the STX.

Am I right?

No, the Lightning has not been replaced. The Lightning is not a standard F150. It is a “performance” F150 with a blown 5.4, suspension and some other goodies.

The Generation II Lightnings were not produced until 1999 and ended with the heritage addition in 2004, just a carry over from 2003 nothing changed.

The Lightning does have a “step-side” bed that other F150’s had as well but that is not what made a Lightning a Lightning.

The “Boss” is a standard F150 with some plastic added and paint to jack the price up to the Lightning price tag but the performance of a standard F150, no where near the performance of the Lightning…

The Gen II Lightning was made from 1999-2004. Mine is a 2003.

From 1997 to 2004 (heritage) there were to bed styles: Flareside and sytleside (or fleetside).

The Lightning was a special edition run from 1999 to 2004. The bed happend to be a flareside.

Since the F150 was redesigned in 2004 and the Lightning was 'cancelled' you wont be able to find a 2005+ Lightning.

Just FYI, the "Street Boss" is not a Ford propuct! It is an aftermarket co in CA, they bought a bunch of F-150's slaped a CAI and a body kit, then sold them to dealers. Posers!
