Hey Guys,
Just finished up cleaning the intercooler and changing the spark plugs and fuel filter on my L (one of the most frusturating things I have ever done). I didn't have time to put everything back together today so I am just wondering if some of you guys could post some detailed pic's of an engine bay just so I can make sure I get all of the plugs, vacumme lines, etc. in the right places and dont forget anything. Thanks.

Now let me tell you about my little mishaps along the way so you dont run into the same problems.

#1. Everything was going smoothly until it was time to take the intercooler out. Last bolt some how slipper through my buddies fingers and deep down somewhere behind my motor...still yet to be found.

#2. I read that someone used a whole gallon of acetone until they got thier intercooler running clean. I needed 2 GALLONS (trips to ace take up some time)

#3. When bolting back the 1st driverside coil pack bolt I somehow managed to snap it in half...be careful with those seems like they are made out of plastic.

Big thanks too all the people on these forums for posting all the info they do these step by step instructions on this site are phenomenal especially Rob who's provided countless info on here that has been vital to me.

Now that the bad part is done tomorrow all I need to do is put everything back together and get my 4lb pulley and PSP programmer on.

Alright thanks for the pic. I heard some people say it was ok to go w/o coil pack bolts and I'm only missing one right now...am I asking for trouble or should I be ok?

 

I dont think it should be a problem...I actually just read a thread either here or on NLOC and a good amount of L owners were doing well without them. Ill see if I can dig up the thread.

Alright sounds good I guess I'll just keep checking on it periodically just to make sure it doesnt go anywhere.

 

Send me an e-mail with your addy and I will send you a replacement bolt. You can always drill it and use an easy out to get the rest of the bolt out.

Well I got everything back together today and ran it a few miles. With a cleaner intercooler and denso plugs everything felt so much smoother.

Pulled back into Auto Shop (brand new one this year at our HS that's amazing...4 lifts, Air Tools from the ceiling, plasma cutter, whole welding set up, plasma cutter, sand blaster, etc, etc etc...)
Anyways I put her up on a lift put the new 4lb pulley on with relative ease and plugged in my new programmer from PSP and what a difference. I could even hear it sucking more air at idle! Unfortunatly it's raining right now so I couldnt really open her up :frown: but it feels great to be done.

Next project me and a buddy are rebuilding an engine we pulled out of a POS shop car.
