I cut outta' work early since the weather was so nice and went out looking for prey. I found several victims: First was a guy I talked to over the weekend who owned a 98 Z28,after trying me twice he gave up and we pulled into a parking lot to talk. The next thing I know he talks me into taking him for a ride. Well we run up to a Mitsu 3000 Gt Vr-4 and my passenger asks the guy in the Vr if he wants to go? He says "you know how many a$$holes ask me to race? Do ya'? I hate trucks too,especially when the drivers think thier trucks are fast.My car does 1/4's around 10.6,theres no way a truck can take me" HELLO! I say, "this isn't like any other truck,whadda ya say?"
Go time! from a roll(15) got him by at least 6 cars. He wants more,but "it HAS to be from a stop." We went up hill from a stop and I got him by 8 or 9 cars! He comes flyin' after me,he wants me to follow him to a gas station(?!?),he "needs more fuel pressure to get the turbos to spoll." Ok. Sh#t kicked him after he got gas! Now he is getting like violently upset,flickin' me off,"you went early.",all kinds of stuff.
I just rolled away...Best part,he had his girl w/ him. Ohhh that hurts.

Maybe his VR-4 runs 10.6s in the 1/8th.

Wes, I spared part of the story since the post was sooo long. He tracked me down at the local car hang out, rolled over to me and started telling me how he's "only had the car for 6 months" ,he's "not used to the gearbox yet" and "could we go again?" My response, "NO." "You had your chances,and you got kindda carried away afterwards,no way." There is at least 20 other cars there for him to take a shot at,quite a few guys asked him to go too,he turned them all down. He only wanted me. I heard him trying to back track on his 10.6 times,with "I've never really had it at the track,but it's quick." Riiiiiight. Quick to excuses.

F1, It's no longer "r#ce" or "r#cer",it's sushier,and you should read some of the posts that mention L.E.A.R.N(Lightning Enthusiasts Accepting R!cer Nerds),we are tring to work at being more tolerant of this group of auto enthusiasts . There have been many a heated word around here over such language,just thought I'd warn you.

4d Thunder,His girl was major embarassed,she wouldn't look at us or at her "man",it was quite funny. I'm guessing that's why he got beligerant,you can't look bad in front of your girl,espacially when you just ran your mouth about hating trucks! Too bad his car didn't run as well as his mouth!

Good kill. BUT, a well-driven VR4 will give a lightning a very close run. You really have to rev em and drop the clutch hard which is traumatic enough that most owners wont do it. A friend of mine used to have one. Damn fine cars. Check this link for a Lightning - VR4 comparo:

and be warned, I have been handed my dinner by a GT3000 VR4. Turbo cars are very easy to upgrade: an exhaust, a bigger turbo, a chip, a filter and they will run a lot quicker than stock.

 

All I can say is if his girl was smart, like a certain Angel we all know *and love* hehe she wouldhave ridden home in a pick up that night.

Side bar to this story: On my way to work I stopped by where I chalked up the Vr-4 and some of the guys I was hanging out w/ said the guy in the VR came back after I left and was itching for more,asking "where's that a$$hole in his truck?" Well I was home,so he ran a kid w/ a sleeper of a Camaro that's all borred out and has bolt ons gallore.Needless to say the Mitsu got crushed,not only did he get crushed he left in a huff and went rippin' out of the parking lot,weaving in and out of traffic right in front of a Law Dog. Uh oh. From what I was told he got ticket upon ticket upon ticket.The officer had him pulled over for over 25 minutes! Oh boy. That sucks.
