Installed a Whipple here at JDM the other day...

Well the kit is great what can I say we made a few changes (very minor) mainly we used the stock coolant lines instead of the tube Whipple provided, basically changed a few brackets. Just from stuff we learned with V's truck. The install took a solid 8 hrs and thats including making some special brackets. The truck we installed it on was a truck that has been in our shop before. It has a 1 year old built JDM motor. 4lb lower pulley, stock exhaust, silverbullet catback, stock fuel pumps, 60#s and SCT mass air. This truck made 449 the last time it was here. Just bolting on the Whipple at 15.5 psi and a set of injectors and Maf we made 575HP I told the customer to expect maybe 500-525 with out pumps but sure enough it made way more. Well the pumps are at max duty cycle but apperantley not enough to affect the AF its pretty darn flat. Just thought inquiring minds would like to see what we found.

since this motor is a year old, would it benefit from the new head design and valve springs/cam combo that you are running in the "newer" engines?

If so, how?

Looking at the graph it looks like it starts to drop off at 5500, but i'm not sure if it is due to valves/head/air flow restriction, or you were simply letting off the gas pedal.

That upper pulley is HUGE

Some great numbers for sure. Is that one of the new Whipple's or the original type like Vinnie had the use of?

Looks great and nice numbers for only 15+lbs!

Why did you use the stock coolant lines and changed a few brackets?

Do you ever see installing these in 4 hours? Eight seems a long time.

Looks good Jim. Thanks again for the shorty. I saw it the other day and even though it was still in the bag, it looked great. My build will be done on Feb. 15th and I will let you know how much power we get out of your motor....
