Blower porting question

Can someone tell me why you would want to strip the rotors when you port your blower? If this is obvious excuse my ignorance but I've heard everyone talking about being careful NOT to strip the rotors when using brake cleaner to clean the intercooler so why would you intentionally do it after porting the blower? The reason I ask is b/c I found a guy that will port mine for a good price but he says he charges extra to strip the rotors...I dont understand why you would want that?

The coating on the rotors tends to flake off clogging up the intercooler.

People strip the rotors for at least two reasons i am aware of. One is to prevent flaking and blocking the intercooler. The second is to increase clearances to allow freer movement and resistance to locking up, especially at high rotor rpm.

ok then, when I cleaned my intercooler a few weeks ago with 50+K miles on it I didnt have any flakes on top of my fins so should I leave mine alone since I dont seem to be having that issue or should I have them stripped when the blower is ported anyway?
