Tampas surfboard gauge pod
Tampas surfboard gauge pod
I got my surfboard pod in the mail yesterday and decided to work on it first thing this morning. The majority of the hard work was the sanding I am guessing I have about three hours of sanding before I even applied the first coat of Bondo. I have test fitted the pod and it fits very good for being custom made. Here are a few pictures after sanding by hand:

After I Completely sanded it I washed it with Dawn and let it dry for a while. Now comes the fun part. First thing I tackled was filling in the casting line from the mold. I sanded the majority of it down but I didn't want to cut too far into it for fear of it not looking right. I went around the edge with some spot putty to fill in the lines. I'm sure I'll have to do another quick coat or two after I sand down the first coat. Here is what it currently looks like:

Sorted now buddy - surf board is the plastic panel on top of dash.
Now that's a neat gauge mount.
Only thing is I have a 5" Autometer Tacho there (Rev Counter) mounted of stainless bracket so did not have drill the dash to fix it. and does not block my view of the road.
Look forward to the finished job mate.
will get yer some photo's when I've finished.
But you got some attention to detail there and loads a time to fill and sand down - a good set up.

Same reason you guys like modding your motor and adding a few extra things like gauges and making your 'L' just a little different from the one next door.
Plus I gotta nice JDM Long Block with Mag Powers and a BTS to play with this year.
Looking to kick some *** here in the UK - Surrey Muscle Street & Strip.
