intercepter tested
got the intercepter on today and seem to work fine. the shifts are firmer and controling the lock up is great.1 to 2 still isnt what i would call earth shattering but i havent played with it much.seems to have a minor delay befor the shifts like the trans still had the spark delay but chip was supposed to eliminate that.i will test it some more and post the results.
I have an intercepter in my truck, installed it monday night. First thing on the install, it is rather easy, and you don't have to bend the heat shield like I have heard many people say you do. To install it simple come from the back of the trans on the passenger side and feel for the cable that is pluged in. I'd say it's 8 to 12 inches forward form the back of the trans.
After unplugging the cable and the plugging in the interceptor wire tie it up to the loop right above the cable plug in, it doesn't get much easier.
As for as performance I do like mine, I can tell the differnce with shifts at all speeds, but not as much as I hoped at WOT. I will say it's snappier when dropping back into first or second gear while already moving.
Now if I would ever get my chip and filter from sal <sigh>

* Personal Best ¼ Mile 13.99 @ 97.75 Mph. (Bone stock)
* Ohio Plate SVT2GO
* Waiting on a chip and filter from Sal.. I wanna go faster!
* Factory CD Changer
* Class 3 Towing Hitch
* Factory Tonneau Cover
* 8" Bazooka Tubs
* Kenwood 80 watt *2 amp
* Viper 550 Alarm w/ remort start
* Often found in the bed: 98 Yamaha Banshee/Pro Design Cool head/ Toomey T-5 Chrome Racing Pipes/ Wiseco Power Pistons / Boyesen rad valves
Injection is nice, but I'd rather be blown. 99 Lightning, the best of both worlds!

got a chance to play today but i wouldnt say this is a cure all for our trans.the lock up delay is not a big deal but wide open throttle shifts are a lot better.the more you turn the pot screw the harder the shift. i left mine about 1/4 away from maximun throttle pressure.under slow acceleration theres not much differance in shift feel, half throttle shifts are a little better and wide open is good and firm.down shifts are a lot quicker and firmer,especially 3 to 2.it seems that the slower throttle shifts are getting better as i drive it more and was told the computer had to learn the new settings.now most chips will do the same things but my superchip didnt shift as good as the intercepter does although others say their chips shift good and firm.if your chip shifts like you want it to dont buy the intercepter unless you like the adjustability.if you dont want a chip then i highly reccomend it.just dont expect low throttle shifts that jar the dash which around town may not be so bad.
I picked up one yesterday. I paid $79.00 at my local transmission supply house. The package looked like it had been on the shelf a while. It stated it was for for E4OD 1995 and up . The guy that makes these up in Canada told me it will also work on the 4R100 , the 99 Lightning tranny.I have Sal's chip and filter but wanted adjustability so I put the intercepter in. I think it has a good chance of dropping a tenth or two off the times. It does shift quicker. I only adjusted mine about 1/3 on each pot. I didn`t install a gauge like they recommend to check line pressure. It states that anything over 300# will damage the tranny.
Who installed the gauge and where? Dud you leave it in?

gp, I read with great interest your second posting on the interceptor. I agree 100% on yor observations. The $95 I spent it seems to be worth it so far condidering all I really wanted to do was to have more control over shift firmness. On a side note, I checked my vehicle with a NGS(Ford diagnostic tool) last night and got no codes. (unlike with a chip installation) That is a definite bonus along with the ease of installation and removal for those times it may be in for dealer service. I think that I will be checking the line pressures this weekend to give myself the extra peace of mind that I am not doing any internal damage.
