Question Hey you bedliner people...

I've seen some gorgeous shots of people who put in that carpeted bedliner & hard tarnou (er, however its spelled) cover, and I was curious...is anyone aware of any product to kind of partition the bed? I'm interested in doing a hard cover/carpeted bed, but the though of an object I have in the back bed sliding form the front and slamming into the tailgate as I gun the puppy frightens me greatly. I'd love to get something to divide up the bed into smaller sections that'll kind of keep things in place but not going to one of those "box" things that you stick on the back that pop up above the bed.

I've always used the ratchet type cargo bars, to partition the bed. hardly have to tighten them at all to hold on the bedrug. i have a couple of them and use them to hold one of those plastic crates (that hold 4gls of milk) in place in the rear for small stuff.

I have used cargo netting to keep things from sliding around. I especially like being able to take it out if it gets in the way. Most truck accessory places canget them fairly cheap.

I bought a cargo net from Ford. It hooks to the tiedowns in the bed and I hoooked the top to the Snuglid shock arm bolts. The Envelope style net is pricey but fits perfect and was exactly what I was looking for.
I know there are spots for 2x4's in the bed to stack plywood over wheel wells cant remember if there are also slots to divide stuff front to rear.

Do you have a part # for the ford net? And which companies hard-lid did you get (web link would be great)?

Also, would I be able to find these rachet-cargo bars at a regular truck shop? I went from a car to a van, so I've never been shopping for truck gear.

Thanks
Daniel

Part Number is 83550a66 for flare side. In the Ford Truck accessory catalog, page 11. About $25

I have Snuglid, http://www.snugtop.com/ it and the other lids I have seen attach with a ball and socket connection where the shock attaches to the bed of truck. I just slid socket off the ball, looped the net over the ball and slid the socket back. The bottom loops are wide enough to loop over tie downs in bed. The net is tilted towards cab some, but it was quick - easy and didnt require driling more holes.

The ratchet bar is pretty common, the Camper place that sold me the Snuglid ( DFW Camper )had them in stock and they came with a net that hangs from the bar. Looked cheesy to me, the snuglid and bed rug are classy, the bar has an 18 wheeler look to it.

If I can get the digital camera back I will get some photos.

Just MY Opinion

You may consider a Bed X-tender. When folded inside the bed of the truck, it creates a nice compartment in the back of the bed to keep things from rolling around. I have a cargo net suspended from the X-tender so I can even put a carton of eggs (I know, blasphemy) in the bed with groceries and never break one.

Also can be used for it's primary purpose. Open the tailgate, flip out the X-tender and you've got another ~18" of bed length. Great for when you need to use your L as a truck.

the ratcheting cargo bar has jack w/teeth in the center and flat rubber feet on the end, and works great if you ever use the "L" as a truck. yesterday afternoon, i had 2 large ice chests filled with jumbo shrimp and soft shell crabs on the *** end of the truck, wedged between the closed tailgate and the cargo bar. some ahole blew a stop sign and almost got t-boned by my "L", well i thought for sure i'd be squeezing seafood juice out of my bedrug last night, but didn't spill a drop. thing works well, cost about 20 bucks at Pep Boys

Ok MrBBQMan, I'll bring the lemons, the corn and the taters, if you'll make the hush puppies and the shrimp, crabs, and oysters (March does have an "R" in it!). I'll even pay for the propane, just tell me when it's ready!

Wyldman, this is how some of my "coonass" customers pay their bill, when their money is tight. i feel like the country doctor at times. but then again, jumbo's (15-20ct) at $2/lb, and big fat softies at a buck a piece, and he's happy, and the BBQMANS "very happy"
this weekend "Shrimp Moska" an italian variation of bbq-shrimp ( a favorite of Carlos Marcello) the chef would peel his for him, the rest of us got messy. i don't know if they did it because he was old, or if they did it because they wanted to grow old themselves.
