Talking 2000 L's production way ahead of schedule

Dealer just called me tonight and told me that my 2000 L has been "bucked" and given an VIN #. He said that production is about a month ahead of schedule and they will be building my L this week or next. He said it usually takes 7 to 10 days for them to get them once they are built.

Hope he is right!!!

Lucky you. I just called my dealer today and he told me he has no word on production. So I then told him I've seen photos of the L's that have been built. He told me I'll get the vehicle when it arrives. I asked for a production date he told me "no idea". He basically told me to stop calling and that they will call me when it arrives. Man, this is frustrating. It's funny, as I'm writing this, I recall someone else posting a similar topic as they were waiting for their 99. Best of luck to you on a speedy arrival for your L.

The dealer gets a weekly report from Ford HQ with updates (if any) to build dates. I believe the report is called a 116. The dealership I'm working with gets this report every Tuesday.

The term "bucked" means: built and sent to shipping. The first thing that happens to an order is it gets a vin. and schedule date, 2nd it gets built, 3rd it gets bucked, 4th in transit with eta for dealer. I hope he knew what he was talking about, if so its built, and you are close to being a 2000L "DRIVER".

Peter

If you have some basic info you can do the research yourself. This forum and others have all the info you need to track the truck yourself. If you want details send me an email.

Cool

Sal,

Yeah, but you 99 guys didn't know what these things were capable of. Reading everyones posts and seeing the guys run at the track makes is shear torture for us waiting! And I've had mine on order since 11/27/99, so I'm dyin over here. You 99 guys & gals are probably laughin at us, history is repeating itself from last year as you are reading all these anticipating posts.

I hope that history doesn't repeat itself in all respects.

My respects to all the '99.5 L owners who hopefully got all the bugs worked out. I'm sure we'll still have a few - but let's hope the piston slap has been buried.

I too am dying - only four weeks to go and then I will have two new red beauties not able to be driven in the snow. Fun, Wow!!

Talking

I just talked to my dealer, and my L is built and waiting for a rail car. They are trying everything to get it here before the Ford delivery date of 5Mar....my sales person is trying to get it here before the end of the month to win some sort of contest, works for me!

Looking forward to meeting you. Believe it or not, I have never seen a Lightning, except in pictures. Didn't think I would ever find anything I would like better than my 90 supercharged XR7, but when I read about the L, I had to have one.

I ordered my L on 1/10/00. My dealer told me last week he heard from Ford that it would be in on 2/18, but he didn't believe them. He just called me today and said he just received word that the build date is 3/6. He said it should take 1 to 2 weeks after that to make it to the dealer. This will give me more time to sell my 2.3 liter Ranger. Think I will notice any difference in the acceleration between the 2 trucks?

Nah,

What ever made you think they would be different? You'll never have time to feel acceleration from the L.
