Lug Pattern and Tire Question...

Hey all,
I have a quick question about the lug pattern and size of stock L rims. I am in the process of ordering a set of licensed Ford SVT L wheels, the site offers the 99 style in two sizes, 18 x 9.5, 5 lug, 125mm bolt circles, 5.80 backspacing, and 18 x 9.5, 5 lug, 135mm bolt circles, 5.80 backspacing. I want them to go on my 1998 Ext. Cab XLT. Which ones will fit? They advertise the 125mm ones to go on 1997-1999 and the others to go on 2000-2004 but I was under the impression that my truck needed 135mm.

Also, I was wondering what tires are out there for these rims other than the Nittos, Goodyear GS F1, and Toyo Proxes S/T. ( Id rather an all-season tire rather than high performance)

Any suggestions would be great,
Thanks
Marc

I think you might be misunderstood. The two different part # wheels in question both have the same bolt pattern and backspacing. The only difference is the stud diameter. The '99 wheel used 12mm studs and 2000+ used 14mm studs. Sounds like you need the 12mm setup.

I was confused by this last year when i ordered my chrome 99-00's from Ford Racing. Hope i was able to help

All 99-04 Lightnings have a 5x135mm pattern.

Correct but this shouldn't change the rim itself. I believe that all the 99 and 00 wheels are exactly the same. I guess they just have an oversized hole on a 99 with 12mm lugs. A set of rims off of a 99 fit fine on my 2000 with 14mm lugs. This is what I've experienced and have seen posted by others as well.

Ya, I think I need the 12mm too because its sold for my year truck but it is confusing because, like others have posted I thought all year rims were the same size/pattern. I just dont want to have them delivered to my house and not fit.. can anyone else clarify?

Thanks

Even if the 99 Wheels were different from the 00 wheels, Which I'm pretty sure are the same, it wouldn't make any difference in your case because you have the smaller lugs so wheels with bigger holes would definitely still fit. The only way it would be a problem is if you had a 14mm lugs and you bought wheels with 12mm holes.

I bought a set of Lightning wheels for my '98. I had to get a set of 12mm lugs, that was it.

**RESURECTION**

So what you are saying is if I bought a set of Chrome 99 rims, they will fit my 2000. The rim should be exactly the same for both years. Don't see why they would change the size of the stud holes for the same rim.
I think I may check that out. I can get some 99 chromies fairly cheap.

i remember reading somewhere that all 99s were the 12mm studs and some 00s were 12 and later production 00s were 14mm? maybe i've got that backwards though>
