Exclamation TCE Big Brake Kit

This kit will bolt right on a HD with the 20" wheels. On an L you will need to have 20's in order for it to clear.

I haven't been on here in a long time but just wanted to let you guys in on what Todd at TCE and I have put together for a front brake kit. This is the only one in use at this time. If you have any ?'s just give Todd a call and I'm sure he'll be glad to help. Thanks TCE for all the help and the opportunity to undertake this project.

A few hours later:

I wieghed everything on the bathroom scales and the stock rotor, caliper and pads wieghed in at 45 pounds. The new kit with a 15.250" x 1.250" thick rotor, six pot calipers with pads, aluminum brackets and mounting hubs wieghed in at 45 pounds.

The rear brakes look out of place with those huge fronts. The fronts look awsome by the way.

Several questions -

1. How do they perform? Do you have any testing info?

2. What ballpark price range are they in?

3. Any plans for a rear kit to balance it out?

Thanks,

Steve

the rears look plenty big, the center/hub section on the rear rotor stands out more in his picture but the actual contact area is out farther. Stock rears are 13.1"

How about a brake kit that would include the rear also. The front looks like a great kit but shouldn't the bias be adjusted by upgrading the rear also perhaps with a larger twin piston set up instead of the single piston stock set up. Wouldn't this be a more balance system for the autocross?

The bais is not an issue as these calipers have just a little less piston area than the stockers so pedal feel and travel are not affected.

They perform amazingly, I did some initial tests for 60-0 but I believe my data to be erroneous coming from the G tech I was using. I have a tape measure and cones that I am going to use soon for some concrete info. The main thing is that they will stop repeatedly without overheating or fading. Todd and I have spoke at length about some more aggressive pad compounds but again cost is the driving factor as the pads for these calipers right now are not readily available and expensive to have custom made. The wilwood BP10 compound is doing well on the street with little dust and no noise what so ever.

There has been much talk of a rear kit from TCE but due to cost, fitment issues and other factors it has not come to fruition as of yet. Due to the forward wieght bias the need for bigger stonger brakes on the rear isn't there either I don't think.

This kit is the prototype and is not being ran on any other trucks yet so I am doing the testing and fitment R & D. TCE also has a proven 13" kit that will bolt right on the L with stock wheels and can even be had with a 6 pot binder.

The cost for the 15" kit that I am using is $3079 according to TCE's website but a call to Todd may reveal additional info that I don't have. He is a great, knowledgeable guy and always willing to help and answer questions.
