hidden front tow-hook mount?

Anyone have a creative way to make a "hidden" or uncoverable front tow-hook spot?

I may be dropping the truck another inch and that will spell basically the end of a flatbed ever being able to pull me up the bed without one.

You could do it like the high end cars do. They have a plug in the bumper that you pop out and screw in an eye bolt. Just put the nut in the frame by the HE, maybe even put 2 in so they can pull from both sides.

Yeah; they had fun getting mine on when the motor let go! We ended up pulling it up backwards so he had a place to grab it and the bumper cover wouldn't have such a bad angle.

Dan, if you look at the lower grille, you will notice each end of it is blocked off, i.e. is not open to allow air through it. This is because the frame rails are directly behind that part of the grille. What you could do is, cut the ends off and make them removable, and then make some frame hooks attached to the ends of the frame rails. Make the lower grille so that you can take off and re-attach the now seperate "end caps". That should be pretty trick.

thats how i towed my truck with another truck when i broke my drive shaft less than a mile from my house.

I always knew it would be a pain to tow my L from the front with out chance of harming the bumper. So i took most of the screws out that hold the lower grill in place. Left enough to hold it in place.

Something like this?

I put a 1" square tubing in the frame rail[cut the rail so that it was totally enclosed]welded it in and then used a grade8 bolt and threaded a D-ring and put a nut opn the end of it.I unforunately have had to use it a few times and it works fine. You can always weld a nut on the tubing and just use a machine eye hook that is threaded on the one end to get the same results and cover the hole up with a rubber or plastic cap.Stan
