coil pack screws
coil pack screws
I always marvel at those who can change plugs in 45 mins or so - and maybe if I did them often enough, I could do the same, ha, ha. But I don't change them that often, so it seems like every time I "check" the tightness every 6 months or so - it's like starting all over again. One of the problems I have is just "seeing" the screws and getting at them with my fingers. Generally I loosen the screws fully - then put a magnet on them and take them up and out - which is ok. But in an effort to see and get at them better, I bought some 5mm x .8 socket head capscrews, 50mm in length - thats about twice as long as the OEM screws. The threads on these longer screws ran up about 25mm - so I ran a flat nut up on them and tightend it up. Then took this now longer socket head capscrews and put in place of the OEM coilpack screws. I only did the first three on the passenger side because they're easy to get at -but for the first time I can actually "see" the coil pack screw - and I can easily loosen it, and put it in with a capscrew socket and get at it with my fingers. The screws I used are industrial grade (black in color) so they don't look as nice as the ones marketed - and they also don't have the little locating "nub" on the bottom as the OEM ones do - and I don't know how well it will work out on the one tight one on the drivers side - but overall I think they'll make removal of the coil pack screws easier and faster.
Consider these,.. they will help take the pain out of plug changes.

I was well aware of those - they've been around for some time now and everyone I've seen really likes them and they look great. If you do a search on here you'll find another guy who made up some similar type screws. I was just looking for an alternative.
