Question 2" drop vs payload

Ok Ok. I can't stand it!! Just when I think I've reached the end of the money pit, something else comes along I can't live without.
Does anyone know if we lose any payload capacity by dropping the truck 2 inches? I'm concerned about the rubber bumpers hitting if I'm at or near 800 lbs in payload, i.e. my Honda Goldwing in the rear.
Anybody have and facts on this?

Fact is you are now 2" closer to the rear axle. Payload is based on spring capacity and how much they will bend. Load the bike and look at clearence first, then determine if you can drop the truck 2". Assuming you already haven't done this.

i overload mine a tad, have put up to 1500lbs welding rods in there, pushed all the way to front (middle of truck), and it bottomed a couple of times. i think with a 2" drop, you are going to have trouble, with that wing. it's hard to keep the weight off the rear axle, when the bike is too long for the bed (tailgate down right?)

Wink

Speaking of money pit...I bet that bike would look great on a trailer behind a lowered Lightning.

I ordered a trailer today for my quad and it only weighs 500 pounds with all the gas cans etc....

I was scared to haul it long distance with a 2 inch drop which I am installing next week...

Just my $.02

------------------
* 99.5 Black Lightning (The fastest color I don’t care what Christy Ann Thinks)
* Personal Best ¼ Mile 13.99 @ 97.75 Mph. (Bone stock)
* Ohio Plate SVT2GO
* Waiting on a chip and filter from Sal.. I wanna go faster!
* Factory CD Changer
* Class 3 Towing Hitch
* Factory Tonneau Cover
* 8" Bazooka Tubs
* Kenwood 80 watt *2 amp
* Viper 550 Alarm w/ remort start
* Often found in the bed: 98 Yamaha Banshee/Pro Design Cool head/ Toomey T-5 Chrome Racing Pipes/ Wiseco Power Pistons / Boyesen rad valves

Injection is nice, but I'd rather be blown. 99 Lightning, the best of both worlds!

Cool

Thanks for the input guys. Guess I probably need to think this one out a while. I do have a cycle trailer, enclosed Wells Cargo that's really nice, but a pain in the rear to fool with. I really want the payload. Guess I can live without the drop. But then again, maybe not. Think I'll try loading it then seeing what the clearance is.
