A/F ratio on stock L?

Just installed an Innovate wideband setup, and noticed that my A/F ratio is around 12.2 to 12.4 under WOT. Only mods are a CAI and a muffler. Does this sound right? Runs like a striped-*** baboon, so no problems per se. Just wondering.

Yep, Thats what my tuner said also. Supports the case for getting a custom tune when adding boost or intake.

I thought that the L's where famous for coming out the factory "pig rich"?
Are you the first owner? Maybe the previous owner had it tuned and stripped it from the mods without returning the stock tune....Just a thought

Mine had the same A/F when stock also. I had also heard about L's running really rich from the factory. I checked mine with a Pred and it had the stock facotry tune in.

The 99-00 will run as low as 10 at WOT

In 2001 Ford leaned them out and got an extra 20hp (yes that's where it comes from. 01-02 will run as high as 11-11.5. They were able to get LEV certified.

03-04 are even leaner at just over 12:1 but that is very safe as long as you leave the timing as it is. Optimal for a supercharged engine in a perfect world is 12.5:1. That's reaching the highest hp and efficiency in burning the A/F mix and the lowest emissions. Looks like Ford achieved this in 03-04.

I've seen an 02 with *only* a conical open air filter run a 12.0 dead flat accross the rpm range.

I bought it brand new with 0 miles on it, so it has no tune. Guess it doesn't hurt anything, and as I said, I bring it to the track all the time. But as someone pointed out, it definitely shows the need for a new tune when I add bolt-ons. Not much room for error.

when i saw this thread last night i did a search and saw several threads where people had a/fs in the 12s while stock. it must be ok with the timing at stock settings. many found the a/f would drop as they got into the higher revs.

My '04's stock map with a 4lb pulley was 13.2.
